Inspired by costuming unique to the internationally acclaimed Cheremosh Ukrainian Dance Company, “Embroidered Memories” captures the splendor of the embroidered blue skirt and the signature Hopak costume … cherished pieces representing countless hours of hand embroidery meticulously stitched by dancers, their mothers, and grandmothers.
The embroidery patterns were originally co-designed by Cheremosh founders, Chester and Luba Kuc, and Paul Sembaliuk in the mid-1970s. Worn exclusively by the dancers for more than three decades, these treasured heirlooms reflect passion danced from the soul, connecting generations of Cheremosh dancers past, present, and future.
“Embroidered Memories” was created for the Cheremosh Benefit & Ball 2007 – Journey to the Great Wall, with proceeds designated to future travel and endeavours.
